Getting ready for the workshop!

To complete this workshop you will need paper and a pen or pencil.

Plus if you wish to create a colourful artwork, use some colouring pens or pencils to colour in the diagrams you will make and draw.

There will be optional worksheets that you can download but if you don’t have access to a printer you can follow along with some blank paper and a pen.

 ROCKS AND MINERALS

The study of rocks (also known as geology) is very important to the study of Earth Sciences, the Earth is mostly made of rock after all! We use rocks to build, to create art sculptures and are an important part of growing food, as minerals are a key ingredient of soil.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  1. State the three different types of rock.

  2. Describe how different rocks are made.

  3. Describe and explain the differences between different rocks.
